Dear Mayor Brodie and Members of Richmond City Council,

I support Richmond’s responsibility to oppose racism and discrimination. I also believe that public confidence is best served when residents can understand the process, materials, and legal boundaries relevant to a Council decision.

I respectfully ask Council to hold, or direct staff to organize, a public information meeting concerning Resolution R26/14-10.

The meeting should explain, to the extent permitted by law and privacy obligations:

1. what source materials, translations, and other information were available to Council before the resolution was considered;
2. what process was used to assess the concerns raised and whether the person referred to was given notice or an opportunity to respond;
3. what distinction Council draws between its own policy decision and any independent role or legal process of the BC Human Rights Tribunal; and
4. what further public-facing steps, if any, Council intends to take.

Please provide advance notice, publish any materials that can lawfully be released, allow reasonable questions from residents, and make a recording or written summary available afterwards.

This request does not seek to minimize discrimination or predetermine any legal conclusion. It asks for a clear, respectful, and transparent public explanation of the process.
